Teacher who served students semen-laced cupcakes gets 41 years
A former Louisiana teacher who fed cupcakes laced with her ex-husband’s sperm to students was sentenced to 41 years behind bars.
Cynthia Perkins, 36, who taught in Livingston, La., used her husband’s bodily fluid to “season” the baked goods.
She accepted a plea deal in which she agreed to testify against her now-ex-husband, Dennis Perkins, 44, a former special operations lieutenant with the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office.
“She not only waived any right to appeal, and attempt to avoid conviction, but she also spared the victims from reliving her horrific crimes during this particular trial,” attorney general Jeff Landry said. “Conviction is in the best interest of our victims and justice.”
Court documents obtained by WBRZ last May revealed that police found photos of Perkins’ students eating the semen-laced cupcakes.
The twisted couple also allegedly raped a child who was nine or 10.
Investigators allegedly found hidden cameras in their attic and bathroom and said they uncovered more pictures on an iPhone.
The ex-junior high English teacher was sentenced to 40 years for second degree rape, and 30 years concurrent for involving a juvenile under 13, and one year for the cupcakes incident.
There is no possibility of parole.
Perkins resigned from the school after her initial arrest in 2019.
Perkins’ attorney, Paul ‘Woody’ Scott, said his client “looks forward” to testifying against her former husband.
“He is the real monster,” Scott told WTRF. “That’s what she wants to make clear. It’s not about shifting blame, she took responsibility… but she looks forward to going after the real monster.”
Dennis Perkins is facing 150 charges, including rape, child pornography, sexual battery of a child, video voyeurism, and conspiracy of mingling harmful substances.
