Can we fall in love with the same person more than once?

It’s going to sound a lot like a fairy tale but it’s possible to fall in love more than once with the same person. Here, we don’t mean in gaps or with breaks in the middle – we mean throughout the course of the same relationship. Before you start feeling cynical, here’s our logic for it.

You discover tiny things

Love, essentially, is WORK. It makes you feel a certain way but those feelings don’t just come on their own. This can happen while you’re dating as well. Say your partner remembered how you wanted that exact coffee in the afternoon so s/he went and got it for you – it’s the thought that counts, and that’s the moment you’ll remember why you fell in love with your partner.

When you see how someone else loves you, it can make you refocus on your relationship, again. Small gestures, random acts of kindness and thoughtfulness, even after years into a relationship, can make you value your partner all over again.

From personal experience

Falling in love is never planned, it just happens, so understanding the gravity of that intensity is always surreal and scary. You get to realise the extent of how much one person can matter to you and how much you worry for her or his well-being... It’s almost bittersweet.

In terms of falling in love with breaks, that’s also possible. There are so many cases of meeting an ex after a long gap and falling in love all over again. Whether it’s your long-time partner or someone who wasn’t a part of your life for a while – the bottomline is we can rediscover love with the same person more than once.
