According to cybersecurity firm Kaspersky, scammers are taking advantage of the hype surrounding the upcoming Hollywood movies 'Barbie', starring Margot Robbie, and Christopher Nolan's 'Oppenheimer', to steal users' money and personal data.

The scam involves distributing phishing emails that lure unsuspecting users with special offers on Barbie dolls coinciding with the movie's release. The fraudulent pages offer limited-edition movie-related dolls, including the lead actress Margot Robbie, at discounted prices. Users are then directed to a purchase form, where they are asked to provide personal identification details and banking information. Unfortunately, users who fall for the scam unknowingly send their money and sensitive information to the fraudsters, who can then use the stolen data for financial gain or sell it on the Dark Web.

Similarly, scammers are enticing people by offering free streaming of the movie 'Oppenheimer', but their true intention is to steal users' banking information and money. To proceed with the supposed free streaming, the scammers ask for a small fee for registration, and users are required to link their bank card, allowing the scammers to make unauthorized debits from their accounts.

Kaspersky warns users to stay vigilant and practice safe online habits to protect themselves from such cyber threats. Being cautious and aware can help users fully enjoy the movie experience without falling victim to scams and potential privacy breaches.
