The popularity of Tata Harrier has left behind the rest of the cars in this segment. The Jeep Compass has reached number one in this segment in terms of harrier sales, overtaking the Mahindra XUV500. Fiat’s 2.0-liter Kryotec diesel engine with 6-speed manual transmission has been given in Harrier. Tata will soon be able to give BS-6 engines in Harrier. For this, Tata has also started testing the new engine.
Jeep Compass and Tata Harrier
According to Autocar India report, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles has started testing the BS-6 emission standard 2.0 liter multijet-2 diesel engine. This engine will be installed in Jeep Compass and Tata Harrier. New emission standards are to be implemented from April 1, 2020 next year.
The engine will come first in the Fiat Compass
At the same time Fiat Chrysler Automobiles will be the first 2.0 liter multijet-2 diesel engine in the top end variant of Fiat Compass. In the compass Trail Hawk, this engine will come with 9 speed torque converter gearbox. After which all the variants of the Jeep will be given a new BS-6 standard engine.
BS-6 will give 170 bhp power
There are reports that the BS-6 engines in Harriers will be more powerful than before. The existing engine gives torque of power of 138 bhp and 350 nm. The 2.0-liter engine with a BS-6 emission standard can give the power of 170 bhp. In addition, the same engine will be given in the 7-seater version of Tata Cassini i.e. Harrier. Cassini is to be launched by the end of this year.
Automatic transmissions will come soon
The 2.0 liter engine in Cassini will give power of 170 bhp and it will come with automatic transmission. Although the automatic transmission does not get the current harrier. But in the near future, Hyundai’s 6-speed torque converter can give automatic gearbox in the company Harrier.
